~The Rustic Story ~

Segusino furniture is hand made from solid pine, using century old techniques, ensuring its durability. This Mexican pine furniture imitates original antiques crafted between the fourteenth and the nineteenth century. Segusino’s founder was inspired to create the range by Mexican furniture found in a shipwreck. The seafaring furniture was solid and comfortable, despite the ordeal it had been through. By using seasoned pine, each piece of Segusino furniture has a unique beauty which is as much the product of time and nature as of human ingenuity. Although based on traditional designs, the Mexican Rustic pine range remains practical for twenty-first century living.

The Rustic Process:

~ Old Mexican rustic furniture is constructed from solid pine, which has distressing accents to achieve an Old World look.

~ The furniture is kiln dried at the factory, stabilizing the wood against excessive cracks and splitting. Kiln drying also eliminates pests from reclaiming the wood, without using harsh chemicals.

~ Hand forged iron hardware adds to the authenticity of the furniture.

~ After careful surface preparation, a proprietary blend of high quality furnture wax is hand applied to each piece, ensuring a consistent and lasting finish. Because of the natural wax finish, you will not experience the strong odors normally associated with Mexican furniture.

~ Steel reinforcement is added to stress points, such as rail supports on beds, to maintain long lasting durability.

~ Each piece is individually boxed and corner blocked, to reduce the risk of damages during transit.

~ Over time, each piece will age gracefully and develop a unique rustic character of it's own. Natural small cracks may develop as the furniture ages, enhancing it's character and rustic appearance.

Many of these pieces are accented with exquisit mable or tile. The Cantera series is inlayed with a rich earthtoned marble that fits any décor. The Talavera series is enhanced with a Talvera blue tile that brings the furniture out of the background and into your heart! Many of these pieces are available with or without the fabulous "Texas Star" engraving to suite your décor.
